South Africa won the high scoring 1st T20I against Ireland and take the lead
South Africa won the series opener against Ireland by 21 runs and now they are leading the 2-match T20I series by 1-0. The final T20I will be played on 5 August and if South Africa win that match, they will clinch the series.
1st innings:
South Africa posted a huge total of 211 runs after winning the toss. Reeza Hendricks was the top scorer with 74 runs in 53 deliveries and made a hundred run stand with Aiden Markram, who scored outstanding 56 in only 27 balls. Tristan Stubbs and Dwayne Pretorius ended the things really well. Andy McBrine was the only impressive bowler from his side whereas other bowlers were very expensive.
2nd innings:
Ireland needed brilliant batting effort from their batters to chase the huge target of 212 but they were unable to do it. Only two batters scored over 20, one of them was Lorcan Tucker, who made stunning 78 with the strike rate of 205 and the other one was George Dockrell, who made 43 in 28 balls. Andy McBrine did some efforts in the end but they fell 21 runs short of the total. Keshav Maharaj was the most successful South African bowler who took 2 wickets and gave just 29 runs in a high scoring game.
