Kolkata still alive as they beat Hyderabad
Kolkata beat Hyderabad in 61st match of IPL. With this victory, Kolkata is still in qualifying race. They have 12 points in 13 games and last match would be do or die for them. Hyderabad is in same position, they have to win their remaining matches. Both teams are alive but their qualification is dependent on other teams.
1st innings:
Kolkata won the toss and unlike others, chose to bat. Their first wicket fell in just second over of the innings and after 8 overs, they were 72 for 3. Rahane and Rana contributed with their small innings before masterclass of Russell, who got support from Billins. They lost 4 wickets in the first half of innings and in other 10 overs, they lost only 2 wickets and scored 94 runs. Natarajan was quite expensive whereas Umran Malik took 3 wickets. Kolkata set the target of 178 in front of Hyderabad.
2nd innings:
Hyderabad's start was not really good. Williamson tried to play extraordinary shot and got bowled by Russell. Even though they lost only 1 wicket in powerplay but their run rate wasn't very good. Tripathi also went on 9 and did not make many runs against his previous team. Markram stayed with Abhishek Sharma before getting bowled by Umesh. Abhishek Sharma was the top scorer from Hyderabad with 43 runs. In 20 overs, Hyderabad made only 123 and fell 55 runs short from the target. Russell took three wickets and became man of the match for his all round performance.
