Australia dominated in the 1st test, won by 10 wickets
The 1st test match between Australia and Sri Lanka ended up in only 2 days and 1 session. It was affected by the rain so one can say that Australia beat the hosts in only 2 days. In this match, Angelo Mathews was tested corona positive after day 2 and Oshada Fernando came as his replacement.
After stopping Sri Lanka on 212 and dominating the 2nd day, Australia added only 8 runs on day 3 to their total and got all out on 321. Then, their spinners did the work very well. In the 3rd innings, Sri Lanka started aggressively and their openers hit 23 runs to Starc in his 2 overs before the brilliant performance by the Aussie spinners. Nathan Lyon and Travis Head, both took 4 wickets each whereas Swepson took 2 wickets. Sri Lanka were trailing by 1 run and they had 1 wicket in hand but they somehow saved themselves from the innings defeat. Australia bowled out Sri Lanka for 113 in the second innings and Warner hit a four and a six as Australia won the match in 4 balls only. Cameron Green became man of the match for his incredible knock of 77 runs on that difficult-turning track.
The second test match will be played from 8th of July at the same venue.
