Bumrah destroyed England by taking his carrer best figures as India dominated in first ODI
After winning the ODI series, India won the first ODI of 3-match series by 10 wickets and took the lead of 1-0 in the series. Now, England have to win the remaining two matches to win the series. India was playing without Virat Kohli and Prasidh Krishna was playing as a third pacer.
1st innings:
Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to field first at the Oval. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami gave brilliant start to India as they sent Jason Roy, Joe Root and Ben Stokes on ducks. Within 8 overs, England lost their half team on only 26 runs and it was looking like England would not reach even at 50 but their captain, Jos Buttler stayed for some time and made 30 runs. In the 14th over, Moeen Ali departed on 14 and in the very next over, Shami took Buttler's wicket. Bumrah took his carrer best 6 wickets and became the first Indian bowler to take 5 or more wickets on English soil. Shami got 3 wickets whereas Prasidh Krishna took one and England got all out on only 110 runs.
2nd innings:
India begun well and not only begun well but also dominated the whole innings as India chased down the target in only 18.4 overs without losing any wicket. Rohit Sharma played brilliantly and hit 76 in only 58 deliveries and Shikhar Dhawan supported him by scoring 31 in 54 balls.
The next ODI will be played on 14th July at the same venue.
