England whitewashed New Zealand by winning the third match.
England chased down the target of 296 in fourth innings and won the third test by 7 wickets as well as the series by 3-0. In this match, English batters showed dominance as they played aggressively with brilliant strike rate especially Bairstow, who played a T20 knock in the second innings.
Kiwis were unable to stop runs or take wickets, which caused their lose in the match. Jack Leach became man of the match for his fifers in both innings.
Joe Root continued his hot form in red ball cricket and became man of the series by scoring 396 runs in 3 matches on the stunning average of 99. Overall, Daryl Mitchell was the top run scorer from the series, who made 538 runs in whole series whereas Boult was on top in the list of highest wicket takers with 16 wickets.
Both teams are in bad position on the WTC table as they are on 7th and 8th position after playing 4 series. New Zealand won only 2 test matches after clinching the world test championship trophy last year and their chances for the qualification are quite low.
