Sri Lanka won the close encounter
In the third match of the series, Sri Lanka won the thriller in last over. They already had lost the series on first two matches but in the third one, they were playing to avoid the whitewash, which they did.
1st innings:
Australia won the toss again but this time, Finch chose to bat first. Australia got impressive start before losing the first wicket in the last over of the powerplay. Warner made 39 in 33 deliveries and was the highest scorer from Australian side. Inglis went on duck because of the run out and Maxwell also was unable to make a big contribution. Stoinis played very well and scored 38, who got support from Steve Smith. Steve Smith made unbeaten 37 and ended the things well with Wade. Theekshana took 2 wickets and also was economical in his 4 overs.
2nd innings:
Sri Lanka begun with good run rate but lost their first wicket in 4th over. Then, Asalanka and Nissanka stayed on crease and played crucial innings. Marcus Stoinis took wickets of both batters and Sri Lanka was in deep trouble again. After that, their captain led from the front by scoring 54 in just 25 deliveries. Australia leaked 59 runs in last three overs, in which, the 22 run over of Hazlewood was also included although, his overall figures were really good. Kane Richardson and Jhy Richardson, both were quite expensive and Australia was missing Starc and Cummins.
Now Australia will play the 5-match ODI series, which are going to begin from 14th of June.
