Happy birthday to the Aussie legend, Steve Smith, who turns 33 today
33 years ago, one of the top batsman of the world, Steven Peter Devereux Smith was born in Sydney, Australia. He begun his carrer as a leg spinner against Pakistan but later he realised that he is more skilled batsman than a bowler. After that, he paid attention to his batting and became a brilliant batsman.
He played really well for Australia especially in tests and he was the highest run getter for Australia in 2015 world cup. In the same year, he became captain of Australian team in Tests and ODIs. Even though his batting style is unorthodox but he got unbelievable success with that style.
He got banned for a year in 2018, when he was involved in ball tampering scandal. He also lost the captaincy spot but he never gave up. He got selected in 2019 world cup squad and he played impressive knock in semi final, when all other batters were struggling. He made strong come back in tests as he scored over 700 runs in Ashes with the stunning average of 110. Australia retained the Ashes and he became number 1 in test rankings. His average is nearly 60 in tests, which is brilliant.
Steve Smith runs:
Tests: 8010
ODIs : 4378
T20Is: 886
He is on top in consistency and he is really good batsman in difficult conditions. In T20Is, his numbers are not really impressive because he plays according to the need of the team. He provides balance to Australian team and plays for the team, not for his own.
Happy birthday legend, the greatest batsman, the leader.
